MU researcher awarded €400,000 for obesity-related research
Dr Andrew Hogan of Maynooth University’s Department of Biology has been awarded funding of over €400,000 for research into targeting iron to boost immune function in obesity and improve patient outcomes.

Ground-breaking overview of East Asian religion in Europe just published
Laurence Cox (MU Sociology), Ugo Dessì (Universities of Vienna and Cape Town) and Lukas Pokorny (Prof of Religious Studies, University of Vienna) have just co-edited “East Asian Religiosities in the European Union: Globalisation, Migration, and Hybridity” with Brill. This is the first systematic survey of a topic which affects tens of millions of people in the EU as migrants, members of diaspora communities, converts and practitioners of activities from martial arts to alternative health. Maynooth Sociology PhD graduate Dr John Ó Laoidh contributed the chapter on East Asian religions in Ireland to the volume.
