Recruitment Skills Training

The overall aim of the training is to assist participants to develop their ability to recruit and select staff in an effective manner and in compliance with the relevant Maynooth University Guidelines. The training is for Heads of Department and Service and all other staff who sit on selection boards. From January 2006 only staff members who have undertaken training are eligible to participate in selection boards.

On completion of the programme, participants will understand:

  • The Maynooth University guidelines on recruitment & selection
  • How to prepare for, and conduct, an effective selection interview
  • The relevant Equality and FOI legislation
  • The LEAD (Living Equality and Diversity) online training programme

As part of the university's equality strategy, the LEAD (Living Equality and Diversity) online training programme aims to create awareness of equality, diversity, and unconscious bias. From January 2015, all members of recruitment and selection boards are encouraged to complete the LEAD programme; this will be a mandatory requirement from September 2015.
