This conference will address “Teaching and Learning issues in Further Education and Training (FET)” in two ways. Firstly on Friday evening we will explore the wider issues impacting on further education and training practice. These include policy issues, teacher issues, learner issues and practice issues. We will hear from practitioners and we will engage in discussion to produce an Agenda for Growth and Development in further education and training.
On the Saturday we will focus on the practice of teaching/facilitating learning in further education and training. We will use the open space methodology to encourage peer workshops and to document the sharing of practice. The outcome will be an outline of a Manual of Practice that is particularly relevant to the further education and training teachers and that will be developed by HDFE graduates and practicing teachers in the coming year.Open space techniques are particularly focused on peer participation and the notion that all we need for a productive event is within our collective capacities and experience.
