The archive of pioneering Irish scholar and writer Peadar Ó Laoghaire (1839-1920) is now available for consultation in Special Collections and Archives.
O’Laoghaire, an advocate for the Irish language and member of the Gaelic League, published numerous books and articles on a range of topics, including an autobiography (Mo scéal féin), the first drama in Irish (Tadhg saor), original prose, Irish translations of the gospels and treatises on Irish grammar.
This collection includes material relating to Ó Laoghaire’s works Séadna (1904) and An Cleasaídhe (1913), translations of Don Quixote, prose essays and translations of Greek classics and of the Old Testament.
