Dr Laura Watson has recently published a chapter in a book which is part of a series published by Cambridge University Press. Debussy in Context, edited by Simon Trezise (CUP, 2024), features a chapter by Dr Watson titled ‘Debussy and Composers with Whom he was Associated.’ It presents an overview of Claude Debussy’s student and professional associations with fellow French composers – namely Ernest Guiraud, Ernest Chausson, Camille Saint-Saëns, Gabriel Fauré, Paul Dukas, and Erik Satie – and traces how these working relationships evolved as Debussy’s career developed over the decades.
