Department of Adult & Community Education, School of Education, Maynooth University
This one day Masterclass will offer a reflective space for practitioners to work in small groups led by Dr David Mc Cormack, Dr Mary B Ryan, and Dr Nuala Whelan, with an input from guest speaker Professor Tristram Hooley.
Critical approaches to career guidance
In this session Professor Hooley will set out the key principles of critical career theory and explore how career guidance can operate in a world which is both unstable and unjust. He will set out the ‘five signposts to socially just career guidance’ and demonstrate how they can be used in practice with adult clients.
There will be an opportunity to try out approaches and discuss their viability. The session will conclude with a discussion on ethics and social justice informed practice.
