Outreach Activities

Description
Invited group which meets annually to explore agenda for research priorities.
Invited seminar 'Geographical Perspectives on Ageing, Health & Place' with Dr Ronan Foley
Invited presentation 'The Potential of Geographical Information Systems' [Link]
This project aims to build capacity in the use of GIS in health research in poor countries. This involves training in open source GIS, and minimising the cost to participants. In Phase 1 researchers from Thailand, Malawi and Kenya were brought to Maynooth, trained, and then brought this work into the programmes in their home countries. Hence this is now embedded in the national Field Epidemiology Training Programme in Thailand. Further training course have been run for Irish NGOs and development researchers.
Invited conference presentation: Health inequalities: a geography of mortality in Ireland 2006-11' [Link]
Public Lecture: Barriers to GIS Adoption
Invited presentation: 'Geographies of health inequalities'
Invited presentation 'Funding capacity building in GIS'
