As part of a larger European Project, Dr Diarmaid Hyland and Dr Tom Delahunty invited two PME students (Claire Egan and Michael Sherlock) and a teacher educator colleague (Dr Anthony Malone) on a week-long trip to The Netherlands. The programme (LEAP Week) focused on Lesson Study in Future Teacher Education, and included academic inputs as well as school-based experiences. Across the week, the MU delegation took part in four Lesson Study experiences in the university and school settings, cultural activities, and networking with other student teachers and teachers educators from across Europe.

LEAP Week was the first major event in an Erasmus + project involving Dr Hyland and Dr Delahunty, which will produce a Blueprint for the implementation of Lesson Study in Initial Teacher Education Programmes. Lesson Study is already core to the PME and BScEd programmes at Maynooth, which Dr Malone and Dr Hyland deliver, and it will continue to expand in the coming years.
