Dr Fangzhe Qiu has received two prestigious grants, a 2018/9 Charlemont Grant by the Royal Irish Academy, and a National University of Ireland Early Career grant. The Charlemont grant will allow Dr Qiu to do research on "Nordic names in pre-11th century Irish annals: evidence of Viking Age Norse" at the University of Uppsala. With the NUI grant, Dr Qiu will organise a workshop in the Chronologicon Hibernicum project on the use and the potential of statistics in linguistics.
