CONNECT Networks of the Future

Congratulations to Dr Indrakshi Dey at the Department of Electronic Engineering on her elevation to the grade of IEEE Senior member - an honour bestowed only to those who have made significant contributions to the profession.

Indrakshi Dey, a lecturer in the Department of Electronic Engineering, and part of the CONNECT team in Maynooth University. She received the MSc degree in Wireless Communications from the University of Southampton in 2010, and the PhD degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Calgary, Canada, in 2015.

From July 2015 to May 2016, she worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Ultra-Maritime Digital Communication Center (UMDCC), Dalhousie University, Halifax, Canada. In 2016, she won the prestigious research fellowship from the European Research Consortium for Information and Mathematics and, worked as a Research Fellow from June 2016 to May 2017 at the Department of Electronics and Telecommunications at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Trondheim, Norway. Her research interests include channel modeling, channel estimation and prediction, adaptive  modulation, and dirty tape coding for different wireless propagation environments, wireless sensor networks and quantum communication networks.

The primary goal of her project ‘FD-M2Mcomm’ at CONNECT is to maximize the end-to-end performance of Machine-to-Machine Communications (M2MCom) systems through Cross-Layer PHY-MAC Full-Duplex (FD) design. It is expected that numerical results over realistic link scenarios will show that this FD design significantly improves the achievable throughput and latency as compared to other key contending technologies like Cognitive M2MCom, non-orthogonal waveform-based unified air interface, etc.
