Prof Michael Doherty presents at the University of Copenhagen FAOS seminar

Prof Michael Doherty presented at the University of Copenhagen – FAOS seminar on industrial relations in the Aviation industry. The seminar was part of the project funded by the European Commission; Varieties of Industrial Relations in Aviation Lockdown (VIRAL). The seminar was attended by many representatives of Danish employer, and trade union, organisations, as well as key figures from the Danish air transport sector.

The VIRAL project aims to improve the expertise and knowledge of industrial relations through analysis of a crucial European business, particularly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic; the air transport sector and its value chain. Within the VIRAL project the economic situation of the air transport sector and its value chain in Europe will be analysed, with the aim of mapping the economic problems faced by the sector during the Covid-19 crisis. Furthermore, industrial relations in the air transport sector in Europe and project partner countries will be examined to identify the contribution of industrial relations can make to the recovery and restructuring of the air transport sector.

There are 10 project partners, representing seven EU Member States.

Prof Doherty is currently on sabbatical from Maynooth University School of Law and Criminology where he teaches Employment Law to BCL/ LLB students.
