As part of Maynooth University’s Research Week, we co-hosted "Current Open Research Initiatives at Maynooth University" on October 22nd. This hybrid event brought together experts from various departments to highlight ongoing projects that champion open research practices across the university.
Our project, QSA*Net: Promoting Open Research in Qualitative Social Science, led by Professor Jane Gray and Dr. Rong Bao from the Maynooth University Social Sciences Institute, highlighted how QSA*Net is working to foster the re-use and sharing of qualitative data. As a National Open Research Forum (NORF)-funded initiative, QSA*Net is committed to enhancing collaborative, open data practices within the social sciences.
Other highlights from the event included:
TROPIC (TRaining for OPen research in an Irish Context) – Dr. Dermot Lynott, Department of Psychology, introduced TROPIC, a NORF-funded project designed to equip Irish researchers with essential open research skills.
Research Translation as an Open Research Practice – Dr. Ian Marder, School of Law and Criminology, discussed the NORF-funded Criminal justice Open Research Dialogue (CORD) and emphasised policy engagement as a vital part of open research.
Irish Qualitative Data Archive (IQDA) – Fran Callaghan, Maynooth University Library, provided an update on the IQDA’s initiatives to enhance access to and preservation of qualitative data at Maynooth.
