Maynooth University Social Sciences Institute

The MUSSI Fellowship Scheme began in the 2019/2020 academic year and was designed to enhance the research community of the University by fostering collaboration between Maynooth University Social Sciences Institute Visiting Fellows and academic staff at Maynooth University. Fellowship recipients have the opportunity to engage with a vibrant research culture in the Institute (see www.maynoothuniversity/mussi ) and across the wider university, Dublin city area and the region.

Due to the Covid 19 pandemic some of our visitors stays at MUSSI were postponed due to restrictions on travel in both Ireland and in their home country. We are delighted we were still able to host almost all of the remaining fellows in 2022 and early 2023. We are hoping to continue to run this Fellowship scheme, keep an eye on our website and social media for the next open call.

2020/2021 Fellowship Awardees

In the 2020/2021 year there were nine sucessful applicants, unfortunately due to covid 19, and the delays it involved only seven of these applicants were able to accept their fellowship places. With sponsors accross a range of departments, including, Anthropology, Geography, Sociology, History and Eurasian Studies so a wide range of subjects and scope for research with the support of MUSSI.
Each Fellow is offered a work space within MUSSI, use of the Maynooth facilites inlcuding the extensive library and the mentorship of some of the best Principle Investigators and researchers, including postdoctoral fellows and postgraduates in different disciplines. While the Fellow is present at Maynooth they are invited to give a talk as part of our MUSSI Fellowship Talk Series.

Below you will find more information on the sucessful MUSSI Fellows, while these awardees were offered fellowships in the 20/21 academic year, due to the Covid 19 Pandemic they were unable to take up their place until 2022/ 2023.
