The 1916 Bursary

The 1916 Bursary is a vital financial award that encourages the participation and success of students from sections of society that are significantly under-represented in higher education.

The Bursary is co-funded by the Government of Ireland and the European Union through the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science (DFHERIS) and aims to break down financial barriers and make higher education accessible to all.

There are 3 levels of financial support awarded to eligible applicants with the greatest need. You may continue to receive the bursary annually for the entire duration of your degree, including into postgraduate study. If you're a new entrant (first-time) undergraduate Maynooth University student and you meet the financial, priority group and college entry criteria, you may be eligible to apply.
