Careers Queries and Appointments
You can meet with a careers advisesr to discuss any of your career related questions. Whether you are starting out and have no idea what you'd like to do or you have a clear idea of your next step, or you are somewhere in between and want to get some more information on your options. Appointments can be In-Person or on Teams. We're very happy to talk to students and we really advise you to come talk to us early in your MU journey (first year isn't too early!) so we can help point you in the direction of the information and supports that will enable you to make the most of your time at MU. Upskill Queries and Appointments
If you would like to find out more about any of the UpSkill programmes (SPUR/MUSE/Mentoring/Micro Internships etc.) book an appointment with the team through the Careers Connect portal and have your questions answered.
Placement Queries and Appointments
Placement consultation appointments can be used to discuss your placement related questions, such as placement planning, CV review, job application, prepare for interview, and queries while on placement. If your MU course is on the list below, you can meet with a placement adviser to discuss your queries. Send us a query or book an appointment on the Placement Connect portal. Placements we advise on:
- Chemistry Department
- Computer Science Department
- Design Innovation Department
- Economics Department
- Electronic Engineering Department
- School of Business
- School of Law & Criminology (general placements)
Placements in the following subjects are managed by the individual academic departments: Biology, Education (Early Childhood, Primary, Post Primary), Legal Placements – School of Law & Criminology, Psychology, Youth & Community Work, Social Work.
Using Careers Connect - Current Students
Careers Connect
Careers Connect is part of MU FutureConnect - your Student Skills and Success portal, and is your one stop shop to engage with the Careers Service. On Careers Connect you can ask questions and/or book meetings with careers advisers and view UpSkill Opportunities and search our Jobs and Events Listings. You can also set email alerts for jobs and events.
Current MU Registered Students (Undergraduate and Postgraduate)
Login with your MU login details
Once you have logged in to the system you can update your profile and if you wish, sign up for email alerts from us on advertised jobs and up-coming careers events.

Appointment Terms & Conditions
Careers Appointments
- Virtual
- Meetings run through MS Teams.
- MU Students: Link to join the Teams Meeting will be in your Booking Confirmation email.
- Alumni (Graduate users): An adviser will call you on Teams at the scheduled time using the email you used to register on Careers Connect - please have Teams downloaded to a device in advance of the meeting.
- In-Person
- Appointment location details will be in your booking confirmation email.
- Meetings are either in the Careers Service (Arts Building) or Rowan House - both locations are on the North Campus.
- For Meetings in the Careers Service (Room 1 or Room 2) - please sit in the waiting area and an adviser will call you in at your appointment time.
- For Meetings in Rowan House (Room 003) - please wait outside the door at the adviser will call you in at your appointment time.
- General Information
- Careers Meetings last 20 minutes.
- Meetings can be booked up to one-two weeks in advance.
- Careers Meetings can be used to discuss any career related questions.
- If multiple meetings are missed, a user's ability to self-book meetings may be suspended.
- Alumni users wishing to arrange a Careers Meeting please subject a Meeting Request query through Careers Connect and we will book you in.
Placement Appointments
- Virtual
- Meeting run through MS Teams.
- Link to join the Teams Meeting will be in your Booking Confirmation email.
- In-Person – North Campus
- Appointment location details will be in your booking confirmation email.
- After meeting with a placement adviser, a student can expect several outcomes and valuable information to help them in their accredited placement. It is important for students to take an active role in the process and follow through on any recommendations or action items discussed during the meeting. Personalised guidance may include CV review, placement search strategies, and interview preparation.
