COURSE DESCRIPTION
BSc Economics programme (MH415) is the ideal course for those seeking to become a professional economist. You will learn to take a scientific evidence-based approach to understand economic and socio-economic problems, to critique existing policies and to create new solutions to combat these problems in public and private sector.
WHY CHOOSE BSc ECONOMICS?
Employers, whether in the private or public sector, government or agriculture, need people who can analyse and interpret economics and other data. This programme provides you with the necessary skills to thrive in these roles.
Our degree is integrated with the MSc Economics programme, which allows you to continue your studies as a postgraduate student at the end of your three years with BSc Economics.
This programme is for you, if you are good at maths while also interested in social, economic, and socio-economic issues such as such as poverty, financial instability, gender and racial inequality and climate change.
Upon graduation, you will have the option of progressing to MSc Economics. This will provide further high-quality job opportunities for professional economists in government departments such as Department of Finance, in consultancy firms, in policy institutes, think tanks, in the Central Bank etc.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:
- to take a scientific evidence-based approach to understand economic and socio-economic problems
- to critique existing policies and to create new solutions to combat these problems in public and private sector
- how to do independent research, not just consume knowledge created by others. The focus on independent research allows students to flourish based on their individual curiosity and strengths.
- Data analysis skills are developed steadily over the course of the degree
