Dr Éamon Ó Ciosáin, Lecturer in French, NUI Maynooth, was awarded the honour of Chevalier dans l’Ordre des Palmes Académiques at a ceremony held at the Residence of the French Ambassador on Wednesday 23rd November. Awards of the Ordre des Palmes Académiques, created by Emperor Napoléon Bonaparte, recognise achievements in the educational and cultural sphere and the promotion of French language and culture. Among the aspects of Dr Ó Ciosáin’s work his contribution to French-Irish relations in the field of history and literature was mentioned. Picture shows M.
