On Friday, 23 September 2022, 4-8pm, as part of Irish Culture Night 2022, Pavee Point in Dublin are hosting an exhibition on the theme of 'Belonging'. As part of the exhibition, a large community map will be on display, as part of the 'Coolock Travellers' Community Mapping Project', which resulted from the research conducted by Pavee Point and TravAct researchers, with support from Maynooth Geography staff and student researchers (2020-2022). Members of the joint Traveller and (non-Traveller) Geography research team, including PhD candidates Kate Aston and Sophie Thiesen, will be there to answer questions and talk about map. The map depicts places of belonging and unbelonging by Coolock Travellers by gender and across generation. This collaborative project with Pavee Point and Maynooth Geography was funded by the IRC New Foundations Scheme (Professor of Geography Karen Till, PI), with support from Pavee Point, Maynooth Geography, MUSSI, and the Maynooth Centre for Experiential Research.
