The Royal Irish Academy will host an Information event on the work of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) during its 6th Assessment Cycle.

This meeting, scheduled for 11:00 on 12 April 2017, in the Royal Irish Academy (RIA) on Dawson Street, Dublin aims to notify interested members of Ireland’s research community of upcoming opportunities to engage in the drafting of the Sixth Assessment Report and of the three Special Reports:
·         The Impacts of Global Warming of 1.5°C above Pre-Industrial Levels;
·         Climate Change and Oceans and the Cryosphere; and
·         Climate Change, Desertification, Land Degradation, Sustainable Land Management, Food Security, and Greenhouse Gas Fluxes in Terrestrial Ecosystems
Since its formation in 1998 by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) the IPCC has provided authoritative scientific information to inform policymakers on the scientific understanding of climate change, and response options in mitigation and adaptation to climate change.
