'Global Education in Ireland: Critical Histories and Future Directions' published today
'Global Education in Ireland: Critical Histories and Future Directions' has been published today. This open access book, edited by Eilish Dillon, Niamh Gaynor, Gerard McCann and Stephen McCloskey, brings together leading global education (GE) practitioners and academics to, for the first time, provide a history of GE in Ireland.

Céad Míle Fáilte chuig grúpa éagsúla domhanda - One hundred thousand welcomes to a globally diverse group. We are delighted to welcome a new group of MA participants to our MA programmes in International Development, and International Peacebuilding, Security and Development Practice for the 2024/2025 academic year. We had the pleasure of meeting most of the group at our orientation day held on Monday 29th September 2024. As always, the group represents a diverse global community; bringing varied and rich experiences to the programmes.

Dr Sinead McGrath Memorial Scholarship Scheme, 2024/25
The Department of International Development at Maynooth University is pleased to announce the Dr. Sinead McGrath memorial scholarship scheme which offers one Masters bursary worth €2500 to an outstanding individual who has been accepted for a place on either the full-time taught MA in International Development or MA in International Peacebuilding, Security and Development Practice.

MA participant Limon Bunn welcomes colleagues from Cambodia
MA in International Development participant Limon Bunn welcomed Cambodian colleagues from See Beyond Borders and District Governors on a recent visit to Ireland. Together they held meetings with Minister of Education Norma Foley and Minister of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth Roderic O’Gorman.

Histories of Global Education in Europe
This month, Dr. Eilish Dillon of the Department of International Development has published a chapter in the latest book published by the Global Education Network Europe (GENE), ‘Global Education National Histories in Europe: Volume 1’, edited by Annette Scheunpflug and Liam Wegimont. This book, which was published to coincide with GENE’s 50th Roundtable in April 2024, with volume 2 to follow, brings together short national histories of Global Education in a selection of European countries.

Dr Eilish Dillon awarded Irish Research Council: New Foundations research grant
Maynooth University Department of International Development and Dóchas are pleased to welcome the announcement today by the Irish Research Council of a New Foundations research grant for Dr. Eilish Dillon’s research on ethical global development communications, entitled ‘Building Capacity for Ethical Global Development Communications: GCE Approaches, Learning Needs and Guidelines for Practice’.
