2024 National Moot Competition

On 9 November 2024, Maynooth University’s School of Law and Criminology organised the annual National Moot Court Competition 2024. This competition, which drew teams from across the island of Ireland, took place in the Criminal Courts of Justice in Dublin and was very kindly sponsored by A&L Goodbody LLP.

The competition involved 16 teams of mooters, 50 judges and more than 20 volunteer clerks and timekeepers. The final was held in front of a judging panel of Ms Justice Emily Farrell from the High Court, Rosario Boyle SC and Conor Campbell from A&L Goodbody LLP. At the final, teams from UCD and the University of Galway took on the fascinating but challenging moot problem question. The University of Galway was ultimately declared the winning team. Congratulations to the winners, Jenna Smyth, Colman Monaghan and Patricia Geciova. Best speaker was awarded to Jenna Smyth and the best memorial went to the TCD team made up of Adam O’Carroll and Daniel Walsh.
