Emma Guyatt, BCL Law and Arts student, completed a six-week research assistant placement in the Department of Law. During her placement, Emma assisted Professor Michael Doherty with his research related to employment law, with a particular focus on the ‘platform economy’. This included assistance with a research paper for the European Commission, which will be published on the EU website, a book chapter on economically-dependent workers and assistance with research for the 8th Annual NERI Labour Market Conference.
Speaking about her placement, Emma noted the following: ‘I gained hands-on experience in research, and acquired skills that will assist me going forward in my degree. This position increased my level of confidence and understanding, both influencing my decision to major in law.’
Thank you for your help Emma.
