Maynooth University’s School of Law and Criminology has been awarded Law School of the Year in the prestigious Irish Law Awards, which took place at a ceremony hosted in the Aviva Stadium on Friday.

The awards aim to identify, honour, and publicise outstanding achievements, while also recognising those who have dedicated their lives to serving in the legal profession. This annual event, with over 500 guests in attendance including some of the top law firms in Ireland, recognises excellence in the legal profession.

Commenting on the award, Dr Fergus Ryan, Acting Head of the School of Law and Criminology at Maynooth University  said:

“The award recognises the extraordinary growth and success of the School in recent years, as well as the dedication and expertise of our staff and the talents of our students. It would not have been possible without the great support we received from colleagues throughout the University.

“My sincere appreciation is extended to all colleagues for making this possible, but particularly to Dr Edana Richardson for writing our application and to Prof Michael Doherty who has expertly and wisely stewarded the School over the past nine years.”

The award for Law School of the Year is sponsored by Ireland's Bluebook. Software and technology firm, Dye & Durham, sponsored the 2022 Irish Law Awards.
