    Entrance Scholarship

    Entrance Scholarship 2025

Entrance Scholarships* were awarded in 2024 to 80 new MU students pursuing a range of degree courses including MH101 Bachelor of Arts, Psychology, Primary Education and more. See below for the breakdown of degrees chosen by our scholars in 2024.

The €1,000 Entrance Scholarship is automatically awarded to incoming first-year students who apply through the Central Applications Office (CAO) and achieve 575 CAO points or higher in their school-leaving examinations. For students presenting the Irish Leaving Certificate, points must be obtained from six subjects in a single sitting; however, the sitting does not need to be in the same year as entry to the University.

For students presenting GCE A Levels, the award is based on achieving the required points from three or four A-Level subjects.

The CAO processes applications for undergraduate courses at Irish Higher Education Institutions, including Maynooth University. All EU, EEA, and UK applicants for first-year undergraduate degree programmes at Maynooth University must apply through the CAO.
