Assistant Professor Dr. Mariana Velasco-Rivera elected to the Council of the International Society of Public Law (ICON-S)

We are delighted to announce that Assistant Professor at the School of Law and Criminology Dr. Mariana Velasco-Rivera was elected to the Council of the International Society of Public Law (ICON-S). ICON-S is the world’s largest and leading learned society for all areas of public law.
 
Membership on the Council is a position of high distinction. Among other things, it entails the responsibility to provide intellectual guidance for @ICON__S, to advise the Executive Committee, and to represent the interests of ICON-S members.

Mariana’s research interests are in the field of public law, specifically, constitutional law, comparative constitutional law and constitutional theory. In her research, she explores the relationship between constitutionalism, constitutional design and democracy and how political norms and practices shape legal institutions.
