Maynooth University School of Business's faculty member Dr. Na Fu was featured in an article on 26th February 2015 in the Irish Times 'Best Workplaces 2015' supplement. This three page article reports on a recent survey of HR Professionals on trends and practices in HR practices here in Ireland. The lead researcher on this project was Professor Patrick Flood of our 3U partner DCU, along with the LINK research centre team at DCU and including Dr. Na Fu of Maynooth University. The article highlights a series of findings summarised as:

  1. HR community too inward-looking which could lead to a repetition of old approaches
  2. Skills deficit at line and middle management levels
  3. Expectation gap between employers and employees
  4. Respondents need stronger external networks
  5. The majority of respondents saw employee engagement as positive.”

One issue that is particularly interesting is the finding that that the survey highlighted a limited application of evidence based management in the practices of HR professionals. Here at Maynooth University School of Business we seek to bridge the worlds of research and practice by having research active and engaged faculty teaching on our undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Currently Dr. Fu is bringing her research led insights into HR practice and organisational behaviour to our students on our first and third year BA Arts program and single honours business students.
