On Wednesday 13 March RTÉ Radio 1 visited Maynooth University to record an episode of the ever popular Céilí House programme, featuring students, staff and tutors from the Music Department. Central to the performance was the Music Department’s Traditional Group, led by its director Aisling Ní Coisdealbha. This was a busy week for the group, who also performed in their annual concert on Thursday 14 March as part of Seachtain na Gaeilge. The group was joined for Céilí House by many staff from the department, including Dr Joanne Cusack, Dr Gordon Delap, Dr Ryan Molloy, Dr Adrian Scahill, and flute tutor Seán Ó Broin. The broadcast also featured final-year performance students William Holmes (mouth organ) and Ciara Murray (concertina), as well as members of the university’s Trad Music Society. The show will be broadcast on RTÉ Radio 1 on Saturday 16 March at 9:00pm, and can also be accessed online here.
