Professor Doherty researches in the area of industrial relations law and policy and has commented and published widely on Irish and European collective bargaining, including his piece 'When You Ain't Got Nothin', You Got Nothin' to Lose.... Union Recognition Laws, Voluntarism and the Anglo Model', which appears in the Industrial Law Journal (2013) 42(4), 369–397.
Professor Doherty is Head of Maynooth University Department of Law and lectures courses to all first year law students on Introduction to Law and Employment Law to BCL/ LLB students.
