Maynooth University Celebrates Outstanding First-Year Scholars at 2024 Entrance Scholars Ceremony

    Maynooth University’s 2024 Entrance Scholars Ceremony took place on Wednesday, 12 February 2025, celebrating the achievements of outstanding first-year students awarded scholarships across several categories.
     
    This inspiring event honoured recipients of the 2024 Entrance Scholarship award, including 79 students who obtained over 575 points in their Leaving Certificate as well as the 2024 Music Scholar and two BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition Scholars, and the 2024 W.A. Barrett Scholars: Rares Stefan Mihai and Ingrid-Loredana Radu. The Entrance Scholars Ceremony also celebrates the recipients’ families and their inspirational teachers, guidance counsellors, and school principals who supported and encouraged them on their educational journey to Maynooth University.
     
    The Faculty of Science and Engineering extends its heartfelt congratulations to all scholarship recipients, particularly the 32 Entrance Scholars studying on programmes across the Faculty of Science and Engineering, the two BT Young Scientist Scholars, and the two W.A. Barrett Scholars.
    The W.A. Barrett Scholarship in Engineering, generously supported by Earthridge International and the Barrett Family, commemorates the late William Anthony (Tony) Barrett. Tony established Earthridge International and Barrett’s of Maynooth in 1978, both of which remain family-owned leaders in Ireland’s plumbing and heating sector.
     
    Maynooth University was honoured to welcome members of the Barrett family to this year’s ceremony. The event was also attended by the Entrance Scholars recipients’ families as well as their teachers, school principals, and guidance counsellors, making it a truly special occasion.
     
    The Faculty expresses its gratitude to the Admissions Office for their exceptional work in organising this memorable annual event.
