It has been a very successful year so far for the MU Soccer Club. All six of the Intervarsity squads reached the semi-final stage in their respective Colleges & Universities Football League (CUFL), with three squads reaching the final - played in the Athlone Town Stadium.

MU Senior Men
After emerging from a particularly difficult group stage, the team progressed to the quarter final against UCC winning 0-1 in Cork. They then travelled to Belfield to play UCD in the semi-final winning 1 - 2. The final was played on Tuesday December 3rd. MU claimed a well-deserved 2 - 1 victory against a very strong TUD outfit to become CUFL Premier Division Champions for the second time in three years.
MU Senior Men B
After a successful group phase, MU were drawn against TUS Midwest in the CUFL quarter final, winning the match convincingly 6 - 0 in Maynooth. The team were drawn against University of Galway's seniors in Galway for the semi-final. An outstanding performance ensured MU secured a 2 - 3 victory to take them through to the final. The final was played on Wednesday December 4th against DCU seniors. The lads had to show plenty of determination and eventually came through 2 - 2 after extra time and winning 5 - 4 on penalty kicks.
MU Women B
The MU women's B team progressed through their group unbeaten. Finishing top of the group gave them home advantage in the semi-final where they entertained ATU Donegal; MU running out 3 - 0 winners. The final was played on Thursday December 5th. Despite a dominant second half performance with plenty of opportunities to score it was not to be on the day, QUB winning 2 - 0.
Four MU men's soccer scholars were selected in an 18-man third level International squad to play France in December: well done Dean O'Shea, Sean McHale, Daragh Murtagh & Aaron Doran.
