Horizon 2020 is the EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation with nearly €80 billion of funding available over 7 years (2014 to 2020).
It is the successor to FP7 and the financial instrument implementing the Innovation Union, a Europe 2020 flagship initiative aimed at securing Europe's global competitiveness.
Horizon 2020 is the major opportunity for research and development in Europe for the next decade and Maynooth University plans to avail of this opportunity.
Funding streams exist for individual awards in all disciplines and for all career stages as well as consortium projects, so all areas of Maynooth University’s research (Humanities, Social Sciences, Sciences and Engineering) can avail of Horizon 2020 funding.
The Research committee has agreed a detailed plan and resources to assist Researchers, Departments and Institutes access Horizon 2020 funding.
