Professor Edward Dove gave a keynote presentation at the 16th World Conference Bioethics, Medical Ethics and Health Law, which took place Brasília (Brazil) from 24 to 26 July 2024. The World Conference offers participants an international platform for fruitful scientific discourse on more than 70 topics and subtopics in the fields of bioethics, medical ethics, and health law. The Conference is sponsored by the World Medical Association, the International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations, and by the International Forum of Teachers, which is composed of members from more than 70 countries.
His presentation, which was conducted remotely via Zoom, introduced the field of Health Privacy Law, (which Prof Dove teaches in the Masters module LW654) and discussed several emerging issues in the area. Many of these are covered in his forthcoming edited volume, Confidentiality, Privacy, and Data Protection in Biomedicine: International Concepts and Issues, to be published by Routledge this September.
