Charges & Medical Cards

Student health centre - Sign 2 - Maynooth University

There is no charge to students for consultations with either the Nurse or Doctor.

There are charges for certain services- Bloods, STI Screening, ECGs, Administration appointments, Medicals.

All charges are payable any Visa/Debit cards on the day of consultation.
Cash will not be accepted.
These charges apply to all students.

*Injections: Students must bring a letter from the prescribing doctor and the prescribed injection to the student health centre on the day of their allocated appointment.
**Dressings: If specialised dressings are requested, the student will be required to bring a letter from the consultant/doctor and supply the dressings.

Medical Cards

The Student Health Centre is not a medical card practice.
If you hold a medical card and attend the Student Health Centre, medication prescribed by the doctor will not be on a GMS prescription, and you will be charged the full amount on presentation of that prescription to the pharmacist.

Public Hospital Charges:
Attendance at Accident and Emergency Departments without a doctor referral letter will incur a fee of €100. There is an exemption of charges for Medical card holders, European Health Insurance Card holders and NHS card holders.
Please note that all International students are advised to bring medical insurance details with them if attending a hospital.
