Dr. Luke Diver, Maynooth University, has contributed to the January edition of History Ireland. The article ‘The letters of George Wardell and the Battle of Isandlwana’ relates to the letters and pencil sketches of Captain George Wardell, from the Wardell Archive, acquired by Special Collections and Archives, Maynooth University Library. The archive includes 30 handwritten letters and pencil sketches by Wardell, dating 1859-79, they provide an excellent insight into the life of an officer in the British Army, on campaign during a period of vast territorial expansion.
