The Maynooth University Prizes and Scholarships Awards Ceremony has become an annual event with a view to promoting academic excellence and to rewarding achievements in this regard with appropriate recognition. In 2014, over 220 students were awarded prizes at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
The 2015 Prizes and Scholarships Awards Ceremony took place on Wednesday 4th November at 7pm in the Aula Maxima, South Campus and a number of sociology and politics students received awards.
Sociology Prize Giving 2015
- Aoife Malone was awarded the McKevitt Memorial Prize for the best performance in the First Year Sociology Examination.
- Faye Miller Finnerty was awarded the Newman Memorial Prize for the best performance in the Second Year Sociology Examination.
- Bernice McLaughlin was awarded the Professor Liam Ryan Memorial Prize for the best performance in the Sociology B.A. Degree Examination.
- Bobby Comerford was awarded the Coffey Memorial Prize for the best performance in the MA in Sociology.
- Megan Trudie Gorman was awarded the Justine Horgan Memorial prize for best B.A. research project in Sociology.
Politics Prize Giving 2015
- Aoife Malone was awarded the First Year Politics Prize for the best performance in the First Year Politics Examination.
- Conor Twomey was awarded the Second Year Politics Prize for the best performance in the Second Year Politics Examination.
- Jack Nelligan and David O’Brien was awarded jointly the Third Year Politics Prize for the best performance in the Politics B.A. Degree Examination.
Two John Hume research postgraduate scholarships were also awarded.
