Following an event in the Parliament in Brussels on 5th September 2023 with Ms. Pietikainen, Finland, showcasing SHAPES as a proof-of-concept resource that MEPs can use to support their constituents in terms of equalization of opportunities for digital access and technology, entitled “SHAPES –equalizing opportunities for older people in Europe’s digital decade”.
The initiative is aimed at fostering a more inclusive, accessible, and equitable European Union for our citizens as they age. MEPs who sign this Call for Action, will be advocating for policies that ensure all older European citizens to have equal opportunities, regardless of their physical or mental difficulties or abilities. After endorsements have been collected from MEPs, this Call will be circulated among member states, taking the commitment to inclusivity to a broader European stage.
More about the SHAPES project at ALL:
The Smart & Healthy Ageing through People Engaging in Supportive Systems (SHAPES) Innovation Action intends to build, pilot and deploy a large-scale, EU-standardised open platform.
The integration of a broad range of technological, organisational, clinical, educational and societal solutions seeks to facilitate long-term healthy and active ageing and the maintenance of a high-quality standard of life. Mediated by technology, in-home and local community environments interact with health and care (H&C) networks contributing to the reduction of H&C costs, hospitalisations and institutional care.
