Access to the Library
With a €20 million extension which was opened in December 2012, the library is a great place to continue your lifelong education. Have a coffee in the open plan foyer or just get on with your studies in one of the many study rooms available - there are plenty of ways to enjoy the Maynooth library experience!
Graduates from Maynooth University and St Patrick's College, Maynooth may avail of on-site library services at preferential rates.
Alumni on-site library membership includes:
- Unrestricted access to open print collections, staffed service desks and individual study spaces
- Power points are available throughout library spaces for laptop use
- Guest Wi-Fi access is also supported throughout library spaces
- Library Search interface is available for dynamic and flexible exploration of our print collections
The fees for library access, which include borrowing books and reading access, are as follows:
Full Access (Borrowing books):
Individual - annual €50
Individual - 6 months €35
Individual - monthly (or part thereof) is not applicable
Reading Access
Individual - annual €30
Individual - 6 months €20
Please note that alumni members do not have access to the library’s electronic resources, including eBooks, databases, and e-journals. This is due to increased cybersecurity measures & the terms of licence agreements with publishers and is reflected in a reduction in membership fees.

- The postgraduate study room is only available to current Maynooth postgrads.
