Sound for Composition and Play

This seminar will explore Jung In Jung’s compositional approach using interactive game technology. Her research focuses on creating playful dialogues between participants through sound and movement, which results as a composition in the end. She will present her practical works to demonstrate how this compositional idea works in a ‘game-like’ situation where sound becomes a method to communicate as well as a guide for an improvisation in her interactive dance and VR performance projects.

Dr Jung In Jung is a sound artist and researcher. She completed a PhD in Music Technology at University of Huddersfield. In 2019, she joined the InGAME project, funded by AHRC and led by Abertay University, as a postdoctoral research fellow at University of Dundee. Jung’s interactive sound and dance performances were presented at various national/international festivals and conferences such as Sonica, ISEA, xCoAx, NEoN Digital Arts Festival, MIVSC São Carlos Videodance Festival, Athens Video Dance Project, and Vivarium Festival.
