On December 5th, 2013, a delegation from Maynooth University led by Professor Bernard Mahon, Vice President for Research, visited Beijing to join the Sino-Ireland Biomedical Workshop held in Peking University, organized by ISCP and funded by SFI. We took this opportunity and organized a get-together on the 8th December at Nola Café, Beijing for the Maynooth University Alumni China Chapter, which was officially launched in Beijing in March 2010.
Professor Bernard Mahon was present at the event. We were also joined by Paul Kavanagh, the Irish ambassador to China, who addressed the event and emphasized how important it is for Ireland and China to work together in the field of research, education and culture sectors. In addition to Maynooth University alumni in Beijing, we also invited the Chinese Studies students currently studying Chinese language and culture in our partner university – Beihang University. Mr. John Ó Liodáin our Alumni and Irish language teacher in Beijing Foreign Studies University also joined the event. Sharing wonderful memories of experiences in Maynooth and renewing links with each other, everybody had a great time.
