On November 30th, the School of Modern Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at Maynooth University inaugurated Think Language Week with a taster session held in the Rye Hall lecture theater. The event aimed to ignite a passion for foreign language learning and was attended by approximately 60 enthusiastic students from St. Finian’s College in Mullingar and Heywood Community School. The diverse session featured explorations into Chinese, Spanish, German, and French languages.
Ms. Ziwen Qi, a lecturer in Chinese studies, led a captivating taster session focused on Chinese characters. Delving into the evolution and historical significance of these characters, she elucidated the meanings behind several representative Chinese characters. Students were not only exposed to the intricate beauty of writing Chinese characters but also actively engaged in unraveling their meanings.
This session set a promising tone for Think Language Week, fostering a dynamic environment for cultural exchange and language exploration.
