Complex Systems: Optimisation & Control

Whether we are designing systems to harness alternative energy, to manage smarter cities or to make quantum computers a reality, we are naturally led to models and systems of enormous complexity and a need for control and optimisation methodologies. Whilst the optimisation and control of complex systems is a theoretical challenge, it has very real applications.

At Maynooth University, these techniques are applied to problems such as harnessing wave energy, improving the robustness of quantum systems for computing and distributed optimisation/control of systems too large to be centrally controlled.

Maynooth University is an ideal Host Institution for a Marie Skłodowska Curie Individual Fellowship and this cluster is interested in finding potential applicants. Find a mentor below or contact Complexsystems@mu.ie for more information.
