Congratulations to our colleague, Dr Chantal Kobel, who has been awarded a Maynooth University Seed Funding Grant for her project ‘SCRÍBHINN: Scribal Culture in Medieval Irish Schools of Law and Medicine’. Dr Kobel’s project will explore medieval Irish writing practices and scribal training through the lens of vernacular Irish medical and legal manuscripts and will seek to place medieval Irish scribal culture within the broader context of European book history.
Dr Kobel is a Lecturer in the Department of Early Irish, an Affiliate of the Research Ireland LEIGHEAS project on medieval Irish medicine and a member of the Research Cluster Mind and Material in the Middle Ages in the Maynooth University Arts and Humanities Institute.
We look forward to seeing the fruits of her research!
