Conas is féidir liom leibhéal oiriúnach a roghnú?
Tá sé tábhachtach go roghnóidh tú leibhéal a oireann do do leibhéal reatha cumais. Ní mholtar tosú ag leibhéal atá ródheacair mar bainfidh sé de do mhuinín. Moltar duit leibhéal a roghnú bunaithe ar na treoracha atá anseo.
Bain triail as an scrúdú seo chun níos mó eolais a fháil faoi do leibhéal reatha teanga.
Mura bhfuil tú cinnte faoin leibhéal, cuir ríomhphost chuig [email protected] le haghaidh tuilleadh eolais. Déanfar teagmháil le gach duine a chláraíonn do chúrsaí B1 agus B2 le cinntiú go bhfuil an leibhéal cuí acu.
I want to be a primary school teacher. What level should I choose?
It depends on whether you already have a H4 in your Leaving Certificate.
If you do not already have a H4 (C2) in Irish from Leaving Cert, TEG B2 is accepted as an alternative qualification. Please note that the B2 exam is very challenging, and we generally do not advise people to take that exam as a first step. We recommend that people who did ordinary level Irish or who got a H5/C3 in higher level, to start at Bonnleibhéal 2 (A2) and to work their way up to B2. It’s not a quick fix by any means and can take up to 3-4 years but learners will have a very good level of Irish by taking this path. If you pass the B2 exam, you will not be required to take the B1 oral exam at the time of PME application, provided that the PME application is within a two-year period of passing the B2 exam.
If you already have a H4 and wish to apply for the PME (Primary Teaching), you will be required to take the TEG B1 oral exam prior to PME application and to get a mark of 65% or more in that exam. The online B1 speaking skills course will help you to prepare for this exam. Click here for further information.
Please ensure that you read the advice regarding choosing a suitable level before you register.

Ba mhaith liom a bheith i mo mhúinteoir bunscoile. Cén leibhéal ar cheart dom a roghnú?
Braitheann sé sin ar a bhfuil H4 agat ó scrúdú Gaeilge na hArdteistiméireachta nó nach bhfuil.
Mura bhfuil H4 (C2) agat cheana féin sa Ghaeilge ó scrúdú Gaeilge na hArdteistiméireachta, glacfar le pas i Scrúdú TEG B2 mar cháilíocht aitheanta. Tabhair faoi deara le do thoil áfach go bhfuil scrúdú TEG B2 an-dúshlánach agus nach moltar do dhaoine tosú ag an leibhéal sin mar chéad chéim. Ba cheart do dhaoine a rinne an Ghaeilge ag gnáthleibhéal ar scoil tosú ag leibhéal A2. Beidh 3-4 bliain i gceist sula mbeidh siad réidh do scrúdú B2. Is bóthar fada go leor é agus beidh leibhéal maith Gaeilge ag an duine a roghnaíonn an chonair seo. Anuas air sin, má fhaigheann siad pas i scrúdú B2, ní bheidh scrúdú B1 le déanamh acu mar chuid den phróiseas iarratais ar an MGO.
Má tá an H4 agat cheana féin agus tú ag cur isteach ar an MGO, beidh ort scrúdú cainte TEG B1 a dhéanamh sula gcuirfidh tú an t-iarratas isteach. Caithfidh tú marc os cionn 65% a fháil sa scrúdú sin le bheith in ann cur isteach ar an MGO. Cabhróidh an cúrsa ar líne i Labhairt le Gaeilge leat ullmhú don scrúdú sin. Tá tuilleadh eolais ar fáil anseo.
Bí cinnte go léann tú na treoracha maidir le conas an leibhéal ceart a roghnú.

Should I choose a Speaking Skills course or an All Skills course?
That depends on your needs. If you are hoping to take a full TEG exam, or if you would like to improve all of your language skills, we recommend that you take an All Skills course. If you intend to take a TEG oral exam, or if you are interested in improving your speaking skills only, a Speaking Skills course will work for you. Speaking skills courses are available at B1 and B2 levels only and are delivered online.
Ar cheart dom tabhairt faoi chúrsa sa labhairt amháin, nó cúrsa ina bhfuil na scileanna go léir á gclúdach?
Braitheann sé sin ar do riachtanais féin. Má tá sé i gceist agat scrúdú TEG iomlán a dhéanamh, nó más mian leat do chuid scileanna teanga ar fad a fheabhsú, moltar duit cúrsa sna scileanna go léir a dhéanamh. Má tá sé i gceist agat scrúdú cainte TEG a dhéanamh, nó más mian leat do chuid scileanna labhartha a fheabhsú, moltar duit cúrsa sa Ghaeilge labhartha a dhéanamh. Tá cúrsaí sa Ghaeilge labhartha ar fáil ag leibhéil B1 agus B2 amháin agus is ar líne a bhíonn siad ar siúl.

Are the teachers native speakers?
Our teachers come from a variety of linguistic backgrounds and have a very high level of competency in Irish (C1 level). They also have training and experience in teaching Irish to adult learners.
An cainteoirí dúchais iad na múinteoirí?
Tá cúlraí éagsúla teanga ag ár múinteoirí agus ardleibhéal cumais sa Ghaeilge acu (leibhéal C1). Tá oiliúint orthu agus taithí acu ar mhúineadh na Gaeilge do dhaoine fásta.
What if I miss a class?
If you miss a class (or classes!), don’t worry. Come back as soon as you can and talk to your teacher. They will give you any notes that you’ve missed and will advise you on how best to catch up.
Cad a dhéanfaidh mé má chaillim rang?
Má chailleann tú rang (nó ranganna!), ná bí buartha. Tar ar ais chugainn chomh luath agus is féidir agus labhair le do mhúinteoir. Tabharfaidh siad nótaí ranga duit ó na ranganna a chaill tú agus cuirfidh siad comhairle ort maidir lena bhfuil le déanamh le teacht suas chun dáta.
What if the course is too hard or too easy for me?
We advise that you stay at your chosen level for 2-3 weeks until you’re certain that the level is not suitable. After that time, talk to your teacher and/or to the Irish Language coordinator to discuss your options.
Ceapaim go bhfuil an cúrsa ró-éasca/ródheacair dom…
Moltar duit fanacht ag an leibhéal a roghnaigh tú ar feadh 2-3 seachtain go dtí go mbeidh tú cinnte nach bhfuil an leibhéal oiriúnach duit. Ansin, labhair le do mhúinteoir agus/nó le Comhordaitheoir na Gaeilge chun do chuid roghanna a phlé.
How long are the courses?
All Skills courses at A1, A2 and B1 levels are 10 weeks long with the option of taking a follow-up 10-week course in Semester 2.
The All Skills B2 course is 20 weeks in duration and runs from October to April.
The online Speaking courses are 10 weeks in duration, two evenings per week and are available both semesters, subject to demand.

Cúrsa B2 (Gach scil): 20 seachtain, Deireadh Fómhair - Aibreán
Cúrsaí ar líne sa labhairt: 10 seachtain, 2 oíche sa tseachtain
What can I do between lessons to practise my language skills?
Learners at every level are advised to have as much contact as possible with the language while taking a course with us. This can be achieved by attending conversation groups, through regular personal study, or through other opportunities for language use (television programmes and films, radio, reading online newspapers and magazines, keeping a diary in the language, etc.). Your teacher will give you links to resources throughout the course.
Cad is féidir liom a dhéanamh chun mo chuid scileanna teanga a fheabhsú idir na ranganna?
Moltar duit oiread agus is féidir teagmháil a bheith agat leis an teanga i rith an chúrsa. Aimsigh grúpa comhrá i do cheantar nó ar líne, déan staidéar rialta ar an teanga, féach ar chláir ar TG4 agus cláir Ghaeilge ar chainéil eile, éist le hábhar Gaeilge ar an raidió agus ar líne, léigh irisí agus nuachtáin ar líne, coimeád dialann i nGaeilge agus araile! Tabharfaidh do mhúinteoir treoir duit maidir le hacmhainní úsáideacha i rith an chúrsa.
What size are the classes?
Classes are small, usually with no more than 15 participants in each group.
Cé mhéad duine a bhíonn sa rang?
Bíonn na ranganna beag agus ní bhíonn níos mó na 15 duine de ghnáth.
Will I get a certificate at the end of the course?

An bhfaighidh mé teastas ag deireadh an chúrsa?
Má fhreastalaíonn tú ar níos mó ná 80% de na ranganna, is féidir linn teastas tinrimh a chur ar fáil duit. Chun teastas a léiríonn do chumas teanga a fháil, caithfidh tú scrúdú TEG a dhéanamh. Tuilleadh eolais ar fáil ag www.teg.ie
Do I have to buy a course book?
No. Class notes will be provided each week and students will have access to further resources on Moodle.
An gcaithfidh mé leabhar a cheannach?

An féidir liom athrú go rang eile?
Is féidir, má tá cúrsa eile oiriúnach ar fáil duit. Labhair le do mhúinteoir nó le foireann an Lárionaid.
