Professor Rashid Khalidi (Columbia) will give a talk entitled "The Hundred Years' War on Palestine" on May 22 next, at 4pm in Room 1.33, at the Arts and Humanities Institute, Iontas Building, North Campus.
Rashid Khalidi is one of the most important historians of the Middle East currently writing. He is Edward Said Professor of Modern Arab Studies at Columbia, and the author of eight books and dozens of articles. A prominent public figure in the United States, he is also Editor of the Journal of Palestine Studies.
This talk will be delivered seven days after the 75th anniversary of Israel's Declaration of Independence, an event which fell in the midst of and helped to precipitate the Palestinian Nakba. Professor Khalidi's presence in Maynooth could hardly be more timely.
The talk is free and everyone is invited.
