Rita Jorge Brennan
About
Rita moved to Ireland in 2008 and has since been teaching Portuguese as a Dominant Language and as a Second and Third Language. She holds a BA in Modern Languages and Literatures – Portuguese and English Studies from Universidade Nova de Lisboa (Lisbon, 2005) and completed a PGD in Educational Leadership at Maynooth University (2010).
Rita works with the Department of Education on the Portuguese Leaving Certificate Exam, which has been a curricular subject since 2020. She also provides language tuition to the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade's diplomatic body. Rita is passionate about Inclusion, Diversity, and Inclusive Education, and has taught English as an Additional Language while offering Learning Support for the past 15 years. Currently, as part of her MA in Inclusive Education and Special Educational Needs, she is conducting research on Second and Third Language Acquisition for students with Specific Learning Difficulties. Rita delivers modules in Portuguese Language and Culture at Maynooth University.
