Biography

Arnd Witte studied German and History at the University of Hanover (Germany) and was trainee teacher at a Gymnasium (Grammar School) in West Berlin from 1982-84. In the context of his work as DAAD-sponsored lecturer at Bristol Polytechnic, England (1984-86), and at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria (1986-90), he developed his research interest in intercultural aspects of foreign language teaching/learning. He was conferred with the degree of Dr. phil. from the University of Hamburg in 1994. Having held the position of Assistant Lecturer in the Department of German at UCD (1992-93), he obtained a permanent Lectureship at St. Patrick’s College Maynooth in 1993 and was promoted to Senior Lecturer at NUI Maynooth in 2000. In 2015 he was appointed full Professor.
