Degree Overview
>This programme will challenge and stimulate students who wish to pursue a career in the financial markets. Learn from leading experts across three different disciplines; Finance, Mathematics and Computer Science.
>Students have the opportunity to put the theory into practice during the work placement period and savour the daily life of a professional in the financial services industry.
>You will be ready to pursue a career in the Financial Services industry, Financial Technology, Mathematics or Computer Programming.
>You will develop problem-solving skills that will open up a wide range of future career opportunities, not just in the financial sector but anywhere an analytical and innovative mind is required.

Duration: 4 years 

1st year

  • Finance and Economics (15 credits)
  • Computer Science (15 credits)
  • Mathematics and Statistics (15 credits)
  • Plus another 15 credits from your choice of Accounting, Computer Science, Critical Skills or your choice of a subject from Bachelor of Arts Groups 1, 2 or 6, except Mathematics (Pure). Subject Groups.

Students taking Accounting may transfer to MH401 Finance in second year, while students taking 22.5 credits of Computer Science may transfer to MH601 Computer Science and Software Engineering in second year.

2nd year

  • Finance and Economics (15 compulsory credits)
  • Computer Studies (20 compulsory credits)
  • Mathematics and Statistics (15 compulsory credits)
  • Plus 10 optional credits from one of:
    • Finance
    • Economics
    • or Mathematics

3rd year

  • Finance and Economics (10 credits)
  • Computer Studies (10 credits)
  • Mathematics (10 credits)
  • Work Placement (subject to availability), Study Abroad or Research Project (30 credits)

Final year

Mature Applicants 

Mature applicants are assessed separately to school-leavers. Mature applicants are 23 years or older by 1st January in the year of entry to the University. For part-time/flexible degrees the mature age is 21.
