Students enter the programme in UCLy. Application is competitive, and includes an interview to determine academic potential and proficiency in the English language.
Students spend the first two years of study at UCLy, either at the campus in Lyon or the campus in Anncey. Students study modules in French law, as well as additional short courses in Irish law delivered by visiting academics from MU.
Students spend the third year of study at MU, studying modules in Irish law, as well as additional short courses in French law delivered by visiting academics from UCLy.
Over the duration of the programme, students will complete foundational modules in French and Irish law, as well as a range of optional subjects. Successful completion of the programme leads to the award of the License en Droit and the University Degree in Common Law by UCLy (DU Common Law formally awarded by Lyon 2 University) and the Batchelor of Civil Law by Maynooth University.
The third year of the programme offers French students the opportunity to experience Irish student life and Irish culture. Students can participate in a range of student societies, can apply to undertake internships through the department, can volunteer for positions of leadership with the Maynooth Students Union, and much more.
